December 21st, 2012. On this date, Invertia began. A constant rain of magical meteors caused unprecedented destruction on a global scale. In a matter of weeks, the world's population was singlehandedly reduced from 7 billion to 2 billion. Even so, the discovery of Mana from the Invertia meteors paved the way for the evolution of humans. Known as Genestella, these new humans were born with previously-impossible physical abilities as well as an aura known as Prana. After Invertia, humanity began rebuilding, using the new discovery of Mana to improve their technology. With international cooperation, the Integrated Enterprise Foundation built an artificial island in a sizable crater lake, a safe haven for Genestella. This island was named Rikka, or Asterisk. Six schools were built on this island to train the Genestella. It is now Spring of the year 2117.
