Hemlock Springs is a quaint, rural farming town located in the center of Wyoming, once bearing superbly-fertile farmland for miles around. Following an unusual swarm of locusts and general decay a few years prior to the present day of 1989, the agricultural profit of the Springs has died down immensely, making the town ripe for seizure by advantageous capitalist expansion efforts.

Thus, the Springs has begun to see its first wave of urbanization amid the spike of nationwide pacific northwest gentrification. Small businesses and family-owned shops are being torn down and replaced by shopping malls and big-name retail stores as we speak, and at the rate they're arriving, they show no sign of stopping.

Amidst the dust of heavy construction and clean-cut work-in-progress buildings, supernatural musings are on the lips of nearly every citizen, especially as the fall season rapidly approaches. Talks of beasts and monsters that lurk under the covers of night never fail to send shivers up the spines of newcomers. The town's rich history is widely-debated, leaving everyone with their own unique opinion on how the town was first established way back in the mid-1800s, and whatever could've possibly happened after.
