Ancient events gave Earth's residents the ability to cast spells and alterations to their very way of life, including physical changes. Watch yourself, however; dark truths lurk every few steps you take, and the richest among Rosemore's residents raise their wine glasses atop mass graves.

Rosemore is an 18+ community with an emphasis on character-building and literacy. Social channels are compact so as to help lessen overstimulation and better promote a melting pot within "the channel for all". Given the server's status as a 18+ community, writers are free to explore all kinks as it falls under the artistic expression laws.

As a setting, Rosemore aims for the "modern fantasy" feel. You can use elves, fairies, tieflings, centaurs, etc. as a faceclaim and tailor the character to how it all comes together within the setting.

The year was 2130. Humanity has discovered magic. Other races appeared and humans were being driven toward extinction. In desperation they created weapons that were powerful against magical races. Humans reclaimed dominance and kept it through calculated terror—any clan that grew too large had half its people wiped out before it could become a true threat.

The other races realized survival required unity. The first mixed clan was formed, pooling the strengths of many peoples. When humans attacked it, the clan not only survived but forced the attackers back. Word spread. More mixed clans rose, becoming towns, then cities, then fortified bases with their own armies. The War of the Races began.

In the midst of that war a powerful Darkling named Thargg decided the best way to hurt humanity was to strike at the heart of its cities. He built a school on the outer rim of one of the larger human cities and cloaked it with his power for thirteen years. When he finally revealed the Thargg Institute, the humans attacked at once. Teachers and students fought hard, but the school was burned to the ground.

They rebuilt. This time Thargg refused to drop the cloak until a Head Master strong enough to defeat him in battle took control. That man was Head Master Azthar, a powerful demon who understood war. The School was revealed again. It survived the assault. Reputation followed. The strongest of every race came to teach and train there, becoming both academy and war base.

When Azthar died, chaos returned. The school began to lose ground and the strongest teachers fought among themselves for control of its army. The Darkling returned, appointed Head Mistress Mara, and restored order. From that day a tradition was born. Whenever needed, the darkling returns to appoint a new head master.

It is currently ruled by Head Mistress Kalie.

ABOUT ALENTIA'S SANCTUARY...

Alentia’s Sanctuary exists in a world almost entirely similar to modern day Earth. Though magic exists as part of nature and an accepted way of life for most people within the magical community, a population of several hundred million worldwide, the average nonmagical human (or ‘mortal’) finds virtually no deficit in their life for lack of magic.
The Sanctuary exists in a “pocket dimension”, or underground society, away from the public eye. It has been described as being “everywhere and nowhere at once”, and although this is not necessarily true, it is often considered the easiest way to describe it. Within the bounds of the Sanctuary, compasses and GPS systems meant for use outside of the Sanctuary cease to operate as they should, and there is no place on Earth the Sanctuary could possibly exist.

The magical culture within Alentia’s Sanctuary necessitates complete secrecy after the effects of a war centuries past, and those in power within this underground society do their best to keep things under complete wraps. In the last several hundred years in the mortal world, magic has been kept from mortals by way of the community’s Veil, an illusory covering of all magic that exists to hide magic from mortals, altering senses and memories to maintain the status quo of a nonmagical, unexceptional, world, place, and experience.

The Nation-states of Staggarath have come to know three things; Magic is Vile, The Night is Dark, Nobility is True.

Before this age where the Night is Dark and full of monsters, the Church of Ignis and the Crown of Staggarath decreed practitioners of Heathen Magic be put to death. It was 150 years ago when the night went dark save for the lonesome moon, and the Church's Faith and Divine Light could no longer fend off the monsters in the dark. The Nobility of the land, for their own purposes, suggested they take up the Practition of Magic. With reluctance, Crimson Sigil Academy was formed to help defend the Nation from the Night.

The Church still loathes Magic, the Night is starting to become more dangerous, and the Nobility have become restless in pursuit of power.
